Dear Gods.
I'm glad I'm not going to be home tomorrow- At least 2 of the TV's in the house had either MSNBC or CNN on all day. I can't believe it. I really can't. The enormity of the destruction is insane. People going insane.
I know, it seems to be the night for everyone to post about it, but it's been dragging me down all day.
Here's an e-mail from a friend of mine, for any locals who want an opportunity to help somehow:
I do not mass mail very often. Hurricane Katrina has compelled me to do what I can in my corner of the world. Being an Oklahoma boy that was victim to mother nature in the form of a tornado, has created this reaction to the images of this tragedy.
Some of you know that I manage the Red Wing Shoe Store in Nob Hill, ABQ/USA. I have been planing an event for October 7, 8 and 9 to move out a lot of factory seconds and clear-out items. This is already a big event, we have a 2,000 sq. foot tent for our sales event.
I am offering to any groups that want to raise funds, awareness, whatever for the victims of Katrina, great exposure! I will get funding for the city permits to set up your tents around me, bake sales, etc.
Want to help? Feel helpless being distant from the disaster? Contact me if you want to be a part.
I've already talked with Jim Collie of the Santa Fe Presbytery and Cynthia Cisneros, Financial Development with the American Red Cross. We can make a difference.
I welcome all your feedback. My heart is breaking for folks just like us, geography placed them in harms way. God please bless us all. Peace and love.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I will connect you.
Not much else to report in life. I stayed up until 5:30 am reading this morning. I made mashed potatoes. Yeah, that's about it.
